How to Apply

Cal Poly accepts graduate applications through Cal State Apply, the application for all CSU campuses.

Get Started

  1. Choose a Program
Cal Poly’s six colleges as well as our School of Education offer a variety of Master’s Degree Programs, including blended and concurrent degrees and graduate and professional certificates.
  2. Review Selection Criteria and Your Program’s Requirements
While the CSU sets minimum requirements for admission to graduate programs, each individual degree program will also have specific requirements for admission.
  3. Gather Application Materials
In order to complete your application, make sure you have a copy of your transcripts, test scores, household annual income, and social security number (if available). If required for your program, you may also need to upload copies of your unofficial transcript(s), CV/resume, personal statements, names of recommenders, etc. Please contact the Graduate Coordinator for your program for details regarding letters of recommendation.
  4. Review Deadlines
The application deadline will depend on your program. Some programs only allow applications for the fall quarter, while others accept applications for the winter or spring quarters.
  5. Apply
Cal Poly accepts applications online through Cal State Apply. You may also want to look through our application resources for tips on how to complete the application.
  6. Send Your Transcripts and Test Scores
When submitting your application for admission, you are encouraged to attach unofficial transcripts to your application from all degree-granting institutions at which you have been enrolled (if granted admission, official transcripts will also be required). If your program requires test scores, those must also be sent by the application deadline.
