Satisfactory Academic Progress Appeal

Students must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) standards to remain eligible for financial aid.

The SAP Appeal is used by students who are not meeting SAP requirements and wish to request reconsideration of their financial aid eligibility. Appeals are available beginning June 15, 2026, and are expected to take approximately 4 weeks for review.

SAP Standards

SAP standards generally include:

  • Minimum GPA requirements
  • Successful completion of attempted coursework
  • Maximum timeframe limits for degree completion

Circumstances That May Be Considered

Examples may include:

  • Illness or medical issues
  • Family emergencies
  • Death of a family member
  • Other documented extenuating circumstances that affected academic performance

Students are typically required to explain:

  1. What circumstances prevented them from meeting SAP standards, and
  2. What has changed that will allow them to make satisfactory academic progress moving forward.
