Cost of Attendance Appeal
The Cost of Attendance Appeal is used when a student has educationally related expenses that exceed the standard cost of attendance estimate used for financial aid purposes.
These appeals are available beginning June 15, 2026, and are expected to take approximately 12 weeks to complete.
Circumstances That May Be Considered
- Technology expenses including:
- Computer purchase.
- Required technology or software.
- Educational expenses including:
- Required books, supplies, or materials.
- First professional license or certificate costs.
- Housing expenses including:
- Rent.
- Utilities.
- Transportation Expenses
- Academic travel expenses only.
- Study Abroad Expenses.
- Childcare Expenses for dependents ages 13 or younger.
- Out-of-pocket medical, dental, or vision expenses that were not covered or reimbursed by insurance.
A COA appeal may increase a student’s estimated cost of attendance, but this does not guarantee additional aid eligibility.
