New Physical Therapy Program Launches on Campus
In its continued efforts to expand access for students, Campus Health and Wellbeing (CH&W) recently launched its on-campus physical therapy program. Offered in partnership with Movement For Life, the program offers short-term physical therapy (one to three appointments) at $10 per visit to students who have a referral from a CH&W provider. Students receiving short-term physical therapy services will also receive access to the Everflex platform, which provides guided movements aligned with their personal physical therapy needs. Physical therapy sessions will be held in the Cal Poly Recreation Center (Building 43, Room 107).

Light, Spacious and Bustling: Take a Look Inside a Refreshed Kennedy Library
After a two-year closure, the refreshed Robert E. Kennedy Library — the largest library between Santa Barbara and Santa Cruz — has reopened its doors and assumed its rightful spot as a hub of campus life. The space reopened in September 2025 after its first major remodel since it debuted in January 1981. The $78-million renovation improved accessibility, added classroom space, upgraded heating and cooling systems and expanded the on-site cafe — all while saving energy. The reimagined first floor holds two exhibit spaces for art and historical artifacts from Kennedy Library’s Special Collections and Archives, the expanded Julian’s Café and redesigned courtyard.

Office of the President
Congressman Doug LaMalfa, Cal Poly Alumnus
We are deeply saddened to share the unexpected passing of Congressman Doug LaMalfa on Tuesday, Jan. 6. A Cal Poly alumnus, Congressman LaMalfa earned his bachelor’s degree in agricultural business in 1982. A fourth-generation rice farmer, he dedicated his life to agriculture and public service. Since 2013, he represented California’s 1st congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives. In Congress, he was known as a pragmatic and approachable leader who championed rural communities and farmers. He remained a steadfast supporter of Cal Poly throughout his career. He became a grandfather last June, and was enamored with his first granddaughter, Enzley. Our hearts go out to his wife, Jill, their four children: Kyle, Allison, Sophia and Natalie, and their entire family.

Submission Guidelines
Submission Guidelines
Cal Poly Report (CPR) is Cal Poly’s official employee newsletter, designed to communicate information about officially sanctioned university news or events to faculty, staff and administrators.
All announcements, events and other listings and information must be faculty- and/or staff-focused. Submissions may run only one time — with the exception of Catastrophic Leave announcements and Employment Opportunities, which can run up to two consecutive weeks. Items are strictly limited to 100 words and should, whenever possible, provide a link to additional information online.
To help ensure CPR continues to contain only relevant and approved information, submissions are required to come from or be approved by the employee designated to approve submissions in the respective colleges, units and work areas. Entries submitted by those other than the designated approver must be accompanied by an approval form signed by the unit’s approver. CPR is published on Wednesdays weekly during the school year, except during academic breaks, and monthly in the summer. The deadline for each issue is 5 p.m. the Thursday prior to publication.
