Academic Affairs Kick-off Meeting for Department Chair and Heads 

Hosted by the Provost, this event provides academic department chairs and heads an opportunity to meet as a group prior to the start of classes, have a dialogue with the provost, receive updates on important issues and participate in a focused discussion on relevant topics. Convocation

Convocation brings campus together to formally launch the academic year. Attendees will be addressed by the President, the Provost and Executive Vice President, the Vice President for Student Affairs, the ASI Student Body President, the CFA President, the CSUEU President and the Academic Senate Chair. Academic Day: College Connections

A time for new students to learn more about their colleges and connect with faculty, advisors, and key individuals in the Dean’s Office. All incoming students will be divided according to college and escorted to their respective college/department workshops, information sessions, etc. Registration is not required; exact activities, times, and locations vary by college. See the detailed schedule below. 

Transfer Advising & Academic Support 

A time for incoming transfers to build community with other transfers in their major while connecting with their academic advisor, learning about key policies and culture at Cal Poly, exploring physical transfer resources, and gaining advise for their first key weeks. Transfers will then engage in a transitioning to the quarter system an upper division course work workshop with their transfer academic coaches hosted by the office of Writing and Learning and end with a faculty panel focused on transfer academic success in fall quarter.
