Business Administration Degree Ranked No. 8 in the Nation for Annual ROI

Aspiring business majors won’t find a much better value than Cal Poly, according to the Payscale 2018 College ROI Report. The website has Cal Poly business majors at no. 8 in the nation for annual return on investment. This is the second year in a row Payscale has placed a Cal Poly business degree high on its list. It came in at no. 11 in 2017.

With an annual ROI of 11.2%, Cal Poly ranks highest among CSU schools and second highest in the state.

The Payscale report bases its ROI on average out-of-pocket cost, graduation rates and time, average loan indebtedness and “20-year ROI”. Then, it compares the average “investment” to attend a college with the annual return percentage, based on 20-year earning potential.

Orfalea College of Business students consistently thrive in their job searches and career trajectories, largely due to the college’s commitment to career readiness and experiential education. According to the most recent Graduate Status Report, the average starting salary of an Orfalea graduate is $60,000, and 95% of 2017 graduates are employed or in graduate school.

But while Orfalea stands out for its particularly strong return on investment, Cal Poly placed high in the overall rankings as well, ranking no. 14 in the nation for annual ROI.
