Cal Poly Partners with Energy Commission to Launch Algae-Based Wastewater Treatment Plant

Algae StationCal Poly faculty and students unveiled a new technology Monday that uses algae to treat wastewater and produces biofuel as a byproduct. The system could be used at wastewater treatment facilities throughout California. The demonstration happened at the San Luis Obispo Water Reclamation Facility with a pilot development based on a system designed at Cal Poly and called Reclamation of Nutrients, Energy and Water (RNEW).

Colloquium Celebrates Diversity Feb. 6

On Feb. 6, Cal Poly and the City of San Luis Obispo will present “Celebrating Diversity,” a community colloquium that will address the virtues of living and learning in a diverse society. Free and open to the public, the event will be held
5-7:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center’s
Christopher Cohan Center, with a reception to follow.
