Cal Poly Grad Named National Teacher of the Year

A Cal Poly speech communication graduate who teaches seventh-grade English in Burbank, Calif., was named the 62nd National Teacher of the Year. Rebecca Mieliwocki, along with the 2012 State Teachers of the Year, will be recognized today by President Barack Obama in a ceremony at the White House. More on Mieliwocki | Watch the MSNBC Video

Cal Poly Student Anna Consani Named
Panetta Institute Congressional Intern

Anna Consani, a junior studying political science at Cal Poly, has been chosen as the university’s 2012 representative in the Panetta Institute for Public Policy’s Congressional Internship Program. Through the internship, Consani will spend two weeks in August training at the Panetta Institute at CSU Monterey Bay and then 11 weeks in Washington, D.C., working full time in the office of a congressional representative. Consani is one of about two dozen students from around California taking part in the program.
