The Communication Studies Student Club is a dynamic organization designed for majors, minors, and other students who are iterested in communication related activites. Focusing on academic, professional, and social experiences, we hope to offer club members opportunities to make the most of their college experience.
Club Goals
- Maintain and improve the unique Communication Studies Department community.
- Establish and maintain close relationships and understanding between students and faculty.
- Keep students involved in the major and the university.
- Recognize, foster, and reward outstanding academic achievement.
- Stimulate interest in the field of communication.
- Promote and encourage professional development among communication students.
Club Events and Activities
The club meetings are designed to offer club members academic, professional, and social opportunities. the club sponsors academic and social events throughout the year, including during Liberal Arts Week and the university-wide Open House, and organizes the annual Communication Studies Department banquet. the club has snacks at all of their meetings, participates in the Halloween Hoopla, and holds annual Thanksgiving and St. Patrick's Day potlucks. The Club houses the local chapter of Lambda Pi Eta, the national communication discipline honor society. Guest speakers on communication careers and graduate school are invited to speak at meetings, and past Cal Poly Communication Studies graduates return to speak at the club's annual Career Day symposium.
