Dr. Donald R. Floyd, Professor Emeritus of Geography

Retired: Spring, 1998




Research Interests:

Dr. Floyd was a senior faculty member and was with the Social Sciences Department for 24 years. Current reseach is in the areas of settlement and development of California and the impact of the industrial revolution on growth patterns of Copenhagen, Denmark. Past research has focused on California's narrow-guage railroads, and attitudes toward nature in Scandinavian folklore.

Geographical interests include California as well as northern Europe, especially Scandinavia and The Netherlands. Floyd's primary interests are in historical and cultural geography, and the geography of languages.

Floyd also has a strong interest in the CSU International Programs. He is the former editor of The California Geographer and has advised the Social Sciences International Honor Society-Pi Gamma Mu.
