Traditionally, Running Thunder has been involved with every part of Homecoming and for years we came in 3rd overall. That includes all the frats, other clubs, and campus organizations, so that was pretty good! Last year we came in 2nd! Do you see the direction that we're headed? If not ask someone to help you figure it out. Yeah, there's a ton of stuff going on. You saw a preview above and you'll get it all explained below. Come to the General Meeting this Wednesday upstairs in Mott Gym (The Green Room) at 7pm and we'll tell you all about it! We don't expect everyone one to attend all of the events, but come by when you have some free time to help us out. We can us all the help we can get. You like to build stuff? Help out with the float building. Did you like Double Dare when you were a kid? Be on the RT Laugh Olympics team! Just show up at any event or email us for more info. Read on... Saturday is big! We have the parade in the morning. Everyone is invited. Bring your friends who aren't in Running Thunder. They too can be in the parade. Just wear green & gold. Then there's the Rally & Mock Rock. Don't miss the RT Mock Rock performance that is going to, well, Rock! (Rock said so!) Finally, you can't miss the Homecoming Football game! If you only go to one home game, this is the one! We've dropped off paper bags at secret locations and now we need to pick them up. Kind people donate tons of food and put them in these paper bags. We need both drivers and people who can jump out of cars and pick up bags. It's UU Hour, so you're probably not doing anything! Also, stop by the Homecoming booth and answer Cal Poly trivia. Say you're with Running Thunder (tell your friends to lie and say they're with RT) because we get extra points which are added to all the event points to determine who wins Homecoming. 6pm, Mock Rock performance @ Farmers Market (at Higuera & Nipomo) The Mock Rock qualifying round is held at Farmers Market. RT is going to have an awesome performance. Our Mock Rock volunteers have been practicing hard to nail this performance! We're going to steal the show so you want to make sure that you're there to see it! FRIDAY, Oct 20: 1-3pm, Laugh Olympics @ Mott Lawn Remember Double Dare? Well here's the college edition. We have a couple open slots (guys & girls), so it's first come, first serve for those who want to participate. Email Carissa if you're interested (cbuettne@calpoly.edu). We also need people to cheer our team on. So come out, even if it's only for a few minutes, to watch & cheer. 6-10pm Float Building @ 308 Calle Lupita We've been building it at 308 Calle Lupita and now it's time to move it to the UU to put the finishing touches on this masterpiece. SATURDAY, Oct 21 8am, Move float from UU to Downtown We'll be moving the float, which is on a big trailer to our starting spot for the parade in downtown SLO. Yeah, I know it's early, but it's really cool because everyone wakes up early and is down there at this time and if you're 21 or have an ID that says you are... 8:30am, McCarthy's There's only a couple times a year that you see tons of people in McCarthy's at 8am: St. Patrick's Day and Homecoming! You think I'm Joking? There's going to be a line out the door! Come on! It's a special occasion! 9:15am, Parade Anyone is welcome to be in the parade with us. Just wear green & gold. Bring all of your friends. Do you like being the center of attention? Here's your chance. 2:45pm, Mock Rock & Rally It all comes down to this! There's going to be tons of people at the Rally. We're going to win Mock Rock! Come cheer us on! I guess you want to know where to go, huh? It's going to be right outside the entrance gates to Mustang Stadium. Just look for the mob of people and music. 5pm, Pregame setup We'll be at Mustang Stadium an hour before the game to setup for the football game. If you got free time, come help us out. We'll be putting up Christmas lights on the Front Porch, decorations in the stands, and signs up around the stadium. 6pm, HOMECOMING FOOTBALL GAME The is THE game of the year! You better be there! ======================== >>>>>> Quickies ======================== -The P We need volunteers to help put Christmas lights on the P. We have a generator up there and we just bring up some gas & Xmas lights. If you have a 4x4, Bonus! We light the P up the night before and the night of home football games (only 4 left!). If we win, we put a V (for Victory) next to the P. This tradition has been going on for a long, long time. So if you're interested in helping out and keeping the tradition (even if you can only do it once), don't hesitate to email Scott (sb182@aol.com). We usually have a couple volunteers go up on Friday afternoon and again Saturday afternoon to fill it up with gas. Just think, it can be your exercise for the week! -Team We're still listening if you want to talk to RT Board about being on Team. Team members do a little more than just show up. They help plan out and organize RT events. You want some leadership experience? It looks good on the resume! Ask us for more info.
