Well maybe it wasn't a good idea to go to Vegas. Yeah it was fun and all, but I had the worst luck. I lost about $200. Who loses 8 straight hands in blackjack when you play the odds? It wasn't my weekend. But I still have a chance to win it back. You can call me stupid, but I'll try to win it back on the Tahoe ski trip this weekend. Meanwhile, I'll be enjoying my free drinks. Care to join me? I mean us? Read on... -Rock PS: I have to admit that the televised Men's Basketball game vs. #1 ranked Long Beach State was the best game I've seen in 2 or 3 years! If you missed it, make sure you come to the UCSB game next week! =================================================================== >>>>>> Ski Trip Update & FAQ =================================================================== Where? South Lake Tahoe (people driving will get directions) When? This weekend (3 day weekend) Who? Running Thunder (and any friends you may want to bring) Why? Do I have to explain that one? How? We'll be carpooling up there. Greg (gfryer@calpoly.edu) will be arranging rides. Email him now if you need special consideration (need to leave extra early, extra late, etc.) He'll be calling you before Friday. If you haven't emailed him and told him that you are going, you better do it ASAP or you may be out of luck. How Much? The bargain price of $25 covers the cost of the condo and one dinner. If you haven't paid, it's OK. Just bring the money and we'll collect it at the door while you're standing on the welcome mat outside, in the cold, waiting to come in. No money? That's OK. There's an ATM in Tahoe. You'll have to find it and come back. While you're at the ATM, make sure that you have some money for: -lift tickets -rentals if you need it -gambling money if you have an ID that says your 21 -food -beverages (fermented or nonfermented) Where are we Skiing and Snowboarding? Probably Kirkwood, but if people want to go somewhere else, we're are open to suggestions. Are we gambling and/or drinking? Yes What if I'm underage? You won't be the only one. Not everyone is gambling. Ever look into getting a fake ID? What if I don't wanna ski or snowboard? No prob. There's some people that just came to hang out so you won't be alone. What if I have another question? Send them to rtclub@polymail.calpoly.edu and you'll get a quick, friendly reply. =================================================================== >>>>>> Marde Gras =================================================================== Mark your calendars! Marde Gras is on Fat Tues: *** FEB 27 *** Marde Gras is HUGE in SLO. It's actually the 2nd biggest west of the Mississippi (or the nation, depending on who you talk to). People come from all over California and even from out of state! We are very privilaged to be the ONLY club that's actually IN THE PARADE! You wanna hand out beads? Everybody will be your best friend! For those who think a SLO Marde Gras will be a tame & sober event where people will be wearing 3 layers close so they can flash you by letting you see their undershirt....YOUR WRONG! SLO Marde Gras is crazy & out of control. Get your cameras ready! GET YOUR BEADS EARLY! Get ready to party in the streets of SLO! And YOU have the opportunity to be IN THE PARADE. The center of attention! You can even bring your friends if they want to be in the parade. Since we're in the parade, we need to build a float. So the annual Marde Gras float building begins. We'll be building the float starting this Wednesday and Thursday (14th & 16th), from 6pm-8pm. You won't be doing bitch work. You'll actually be desiging and contructing the float. Have a good idea? Do you feel crafty? You got nothing to do? Come help us out! Where? 434 Corrida From campus, take the 101 and exit on Madonna Make a right, go over the freeway and then a left on Higuera Make your first right onto South Street Make a right on Exposition Make a left on Corrida We'll send out some more float building times in next week's hoofprints. =================================================================== >>>>>> February Birthdays =================================================================== Moehau Peasson 2/1 Jason Wood 2/10 Jennifer Thomson 2/11 Sean Moss 2/14 Levi Paul 2/14 Genevieve Ortega 2/15 Becky Drechsel 2/21 Carissa Buettner 2/21 Tanner Wilmeth 2/22 Kevin Howard 2/24 Eli Snell 2/26 =================================================================== >>>>>> Next Week's Hoofprints Electronified =================================================================== Our arch rivals UCSB invades the Cal Poly campus in the biggest basketball game of the year. If you were at the FOX televised game, you saw some exciting basketball. UCSB's going to be bussing students to Cal Poly so they might have a whole section for themselves. That's why we need YOU at the game! The Spirit Council is sponsoring a free rally & concert before the game at VG's. They've pulled a deal with Campus Dining, and VG's will be serving a special Tri Tip BBQ for dinner that night instead of the standard slop that you normally get. There will also be a live band and other entertainment. Then after the grub, come down to Mott Gym and support the Mustangs as they stick it to UCSB. The game is on Thurs, Feb 22 so we'll give you more details next week. Questions, comments, suggestions? Send them to rtclub@polymail.calpoly.edu See ya, -Rock
