Dr. Crockett is a specialist in technology development and commercialization of advanced materials and manufacturing processes. He is also President of Proof of Concept, LLC, a contract engineering firm that leverages the extensive resources of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, providing engineering R&D services with a core competency in early-stage reduction to practice of technology-based ideas. Prior to his joining the Cal Poly faculty full time, he was founder and President of Xeragen, Inc., a San Luis Obispo-based biotechnology startup company. He holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley, a MBA from Pepperdine University, and a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Arizona. Dr. Crockett served three years as an Assistant Professor and Director, Academic Liaison of the Rapid Prototyping Center at Milwaukee School of Engineering. During this period, he led the research efforts of a 27-company industrial consortium to develop advanced materials and flexible production techniques. Prior to his graduate work, Dr. Crockett was employed by McDonnell Douglas Space Systems Company, where he was a lead engineer and Principal Investigator on projects to develop technology evolution plans for the Space Station.
