Research interests:

My present research interests are in the field of experimental nuclear astrophysics, using a very sensitive multidimensional gamma-ray spectrometer which I built at Cal. Poly. and an HPGe spectrometer to study the radioactivities to be found in artifacts from space, such as lunar samples, antarctic meteorites, and parts recovered from satellites. To facilitate this, I have obtained a contract with the NASA Johnson Space Center which designates me as a Lunar Sample Investigator, and allows me to obtain samples from them on loan for measurement. The objective of this research is to learn as much as possible about the populations and densities of radioactive isotopes in near Earth space to facilitate the development of astrophysical theories on the origins of the galaxies and solar system.
