Astronomy 101- Introduction to the Solar System


    Course Description:
    Descriptive astronomical properties of the Earth, Moon, other planets and their satellites. Comets, asteroids and other members of the Solar System. Theories of the formation of the Solar System. Opportunities for telescope observations of the Moon and planets. Not open to students who have completed or are taking ASTR 301, ASTR 302, or PHYS 132. 4 Lectures.

  • Office Hours: Don't wait until you are in trouble in the class. When you don't understand, ask! If you cannot get to office hours for some reason, contact your instructor after class or by email to set up a time to meet - or just stop by the office.

  • Learning Center: Walk-in help center for lower division science and math courses. Located in Building 52, Room A03. Staffed by professors and physics majors. Stop by the Physics Department or click here for the current Learning Center hours.

  • Posted Solutions and Hints: Selected problem hints and/or solutions will be posted on the bulletin boards just outside 52-E22.

  • Private Tutoring: Some physics majors can be hired to tutor lower division courses. Inquire in the physics' lounge in Building 52, Room E25, or stop by the Physics Department for a current "Private Tutoring" list.
