Waves I
PHYS 408 Electromagnetic Fields and Waves I (4) GE B3 & B4
Electric and magnetic field theory using vectory analysis. Electric
fields, dielectric materials, magnetic fields, induced emf's, magnetic
materials, Maxwell's equations, wave equations, plane electromagnetic
waves. Dipole radiation from an accelerated charge. 4 lectures.
Prerequisite: MATH 304, PHYS 206 or consent of instructor.
- Textbook: Author -
Griffiths, Introduction to Electrodynamics
- Reference: Study Guide
- Office Hours - Don't wait until you are in trouble in
the class. When you don't understand, ask! If you cannot get to
office hours for some reason, contact your instructor after class or
by email to set up a time to meet - or just stop by the office.
- Private Tutoring - Individual arrangements can be made
with Physics majors available for tutoring in 52-E25 (Science Building),
(known affectionately as "h-bar" - a physics in-joke)
- Drop-In Help - Those same tutors will also help for free
