B.A. Pomona College, M.M., University of Texas. Member
Group for Contemporary Music. Founder and Music Director
of the San Luis Obispo Mozart Festival since 1971. Conductor
of the San Luis Obispo Symphony from 1971 to 1983. Founder
of the Mozart Akademie in 1986.
Studied String Bass under Paul Gregory, Peter Mercurio,
and piano with Russell Sherman. Principal bass of Peter
Britt Music Festival, Music Academy of the West, San
Luis Obispo County Symphony. Guest conductor of the
Kern County Beethoven Festival. Panelist for the California
Arts Council. On the Board of Directors of the Association
of California Symphony Orchestras.
Resident Director of the Cal Poly London Study Program.
Recipient of the President's Arts Award for 1991 for
contributions to the arts of San Luis Obispo County.
Recipient of the College of Engineering Award for the
Outstanding Teacher in the College of Liberal Arts,
1993. Recipient of the College of Liberal Arts' 2003
Award for Service. Professor in the Music Department
for 37 years (1967-2004), and chaired the department for over 20
years.
