site move down
I have hereby completed the move to the new site, and as such you will be redirected there in several seconds. Please change your bookmarks to www.minnanoanime.org

Presumably this page will stay here until someone does something about it.

site move inc
Thanks to the previous club treasurer, Mike Whip, we're moving this site to the new domain, www.minnanoanime.org. Hopefully, this will be our last update hosted here.

And just because I can say so, the hair color of the week is blue.

Shirts! and other shirt
First, new business. We make club t-shirts every year, and we do so by having a contest to design them. People design their t-shirt picture and bring it in for us to vote on during meeting the second week of winter quarter. These and other rules can be found here. Also, Halloween party is coming up in three weeks, with AMVs, carved pumpkins, trivia, and fighting games. Therefore, we have to remind everyone about it repeatedly starting now.

Now some old news, namely a couple of good webcomics as if everyone didnt already have more than enough.
queen of wands and machall.

Assorted console theatre
Greetings to our new members, who hopefully by now have noticed we have a site and actually started reading this. Speaking of having a site, I would like to remind everybody I really do intend to update the rest of the pages here at some undetermined point.

In other news, the new Star Ocean game is really good. The first 2-4 hours, as Penny Arcade recently noted, are strikingly similar to watching a movie. After that point, one actually has to do stuff after every few scenes in the movie. Also, because some of us like to know these things, the new one is actually the fourth Star Ocean game. The first being for the SNES and never imported, and the third being a side story called Star Ocean Blue Sphere for the GBC, that was also never imported. Some have speculated that the original was never imported because it stole its opening sequence from Star Trek 4.

Anime lovers!
Welcome, anime lovers. Here we all are again, returning to the silo to watch anime and chew bubble gum. Here to greet you is a (mostly) new batch of officers, including me. After extensive debate, most of which involved David in some way, we have decided on the schedule to your left. If you're new, there's some information in the links above here, some of which may be outdated or just really hard to understand. Also be sure to check out the outside contributions of several of our members, including the former webmasters site, as well as the current vice president's webcomic, which is really good. See everyone on Saturday, I know we'll enjoy most of the shows, and maybe a couple of us will even understand Texhnolyze.

Goodbye school!
So, this is it. The last meeting of the year. A few shows ended last week and we'll be finishing up the rest this week.

I hope you all enjoyed this year of MNA and we look forward to seeing you next year. Of course, after this, I will be handing the web site over to Stephen to run since I'm stepping down as webmaster. I'm sure he'll do a good job (hopefully better than me). I'll miss you all. Ehhh... since I'm leaving here, I might as well pimp my personal site if you ever want to read more of my random ramblings or see some of my "artwork". Just click here. I guess that's kinda the link of the week. Almost like a "goodbye, link of the week" kinda link. So sad. Sad like the girls from Megatokyo.

Fanime was awesome. I'll post pictures of my pimp costume as soon as someone sends me some (I didn't take any pictures of myself).

Since there's an extra long break, I'll bring some goodies to show, some of you have seen them already, but you'll enjoy seeing them again. Maybe i'll even bring something new.

Since this is my last post, I think I should take the time to pass on a reccomendation from the purveyor of all things anime, Shinji. You all should watch the Cutey Honey Live action movie whenever it comes out because it's going to rock your box. It's done by the director of Evangelion, Anno. You'll see on saturday, why it's going to be awesome.

Fanime!
Notice that a few shows are ending this week and a few will be ending next week. This week is Fanime, so I'm off to go make an idiot of myself in front of thousands of people. I'll be sure to post pictures.

5/22/2004
joooooooooooooo
Where has the time gone... somewhere else I suppose. Fanime. Almost here!! Number is 25! Did you see the cat? Go ahead, ask him. Gwaaaaaa! twice a day.

... and again. 20%. +427.

Good job. Good job. Good job.
More nothing new this week now that the Patlabor bit is out of the way. The only real news is that show selection for next year has begun. If there is anything you would like to see shown, mention it to one of the new officers. If you would be willing to purchase R2 DVDs of one of the newer shows *please* talk to one of the officers. Also, if you have any suggestions for the club in general at all we strongly encourage you to bring it up to someone of importance. One thing we would really like is another fundraiser because we're a relatively poor club and the more money we have, the more cool things we can show and the more stuff we can do. As things are right now the club is showing all these awesome shows from R2 DVDs that are loaned to the club by those crazy enough to buy them.

So let's see what kind of link of the week I can dig up for you guys... I know, I'll post some links to some of those great Japanese flash videos. Of course I have to wait until I get back to my computer at home so I can find them. Please check back later.
UPDATE: Here is a good one. Here is another and another.

Oh, and I hope you read the comic I posted last week. It's cool.

5/7/2004
dude where's my update
Wow I totally forgot to update for this week. There is one important thing about the Patlabor New OVA that I forgot about and it's kind of important: there is a new character: Takeo Kumagami. She's Kanuka's replacement and comes from the Hong Kong Police. That should be enough infor for you. Of course, when I watched this OVA I had no idea who she was but I enjoyed it anyway, so it doesn't really matter.

I guess I should give you guys a link, to make up for being so late. Since we're watching Saikano, a.k.a Saishuheiki Kanojo or "She the ultimate weapon" I present to you "kanojo wa Kakuheiki" or "She is a Nuclear Weapon". The guy who made this little comic actually understands that he might have English speaking fans so he translated it into english. Sometimes the translations themselves are funny. I hope you enjoy it and be sure to check out the rest of his site if you enjoy the comic.

spinatch
Once again, much of the same except for a few minor items you should take note of:

Jamshid writes emails without pants on. Well, I mean Jamshid writes emails while he isn't wearing pants. I'm pretty sure emails don't wear pants to begin with.

If you are interested in ordering the black tshirt design from a few years ago please sign the list in club on saturday and indicate your shirt size so we know what sizes to order.

Patlabor explanation: It's true, we have stopped showing the Patlabor TV show. We ran out of DVDs and we are now showing the later episodes of the Patlabor New OVA and you should have noticed that you don't feel like you're missing anything, because you're not really. Yes, we know we showed episode seven. That was intentional. You see, when the New OVAs came out originally on LD there was a five part mini-arc known as the Black-Griphon (I think that's how it's spelled). That ark was interspersed between the other "normal" OVA episodes which were just like TV. On the DVD re-release, they reordered the episodes so that the griphon episodes came first and were continous. Because the normal episodes are way more fun (and the Griphon arc does depend on things that happen in the TV series that we haven't seen) we decided to just skip the griphon arc and a couple not-as-good episodes (One of them is about Noa and how her teeth hurt) and get to the good ones. Oh and this is also why the next ep previews are totally wrong, because the scripts were made from the LDs. I hope you enjoy these episodes.
