Christmas 2002

We haven't been posting reports too frequently on this website, since any changes in Cherylin's recovery pattern have been minimal from day to day or week to week.  But we have many inquiries, and probably will resume the reports, perhaps on a monthly basis.  Cherylin is at an encouraging level of mental acuity, but does not initiate much verbal output.  From time to time, though, she surprises us with whole sentences or phrases, responding to some part of a conversation that is going on around her.

In August of 2002, Cherylin's daughter Kelly married Ryan Long, a pre-dental student at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln.  Kelly just graduated from Union College (also in Lincoln) and is working as a graphic designer. Cherylin was able to function in the traditional role of mother-of-the-bride!  She was brought in by Ryan in her wheel chair, but at the end of the service she walked out without her walker on the arm of an usher.  We were all so pleased to see her able to do this!

For those visiting this page looking for the wedding pictures promised in Jud & Arlene's Christmas letter - they aren't here!  They're on Dick & Lynette's web site.  Please click the following link, or visit:

2001 Reports

On February 5, 1999, Cherylin Peach was in an automobile accident which resulted in very serious injuries. She had multiple skull fractures, broken ribs, broken pelvis, and severe head trauma. She was in a coma for several weeks, and has been making gradual recovery since that time. Since the Rancho scale of coma recognition is based somewhat subjectively, on a description of various behaviors, no one can say precisely just WHEN she "crossed the line" from coma to non-coma. Perhaps you will make your own judgments, as you peruse the following segments of her recovery pattern.

This site has the latest information on Cherylin Peach's recovery.
