Laser velocimetry and optical metrology

An interesting problem is the remote measurement of the motions of solid objects and fluid flows using optical techniques.

We have examined several techniques including all-optical signal processing for speckle photography and polarization multiplexing for direction sensitivity in speckle interferometry.  (Optics and Lasers in Engineering, 29(2/3), 201-209, 1998, Optics Communications 171(1), 5-8, 1999).

One of our current projects is laser velocimetry using wavelength and polarization multiplexing for passive direction sensing.

The project is funded through the C3RP/ONR Award # N00014-05-1-0855
