Instructional Processes in Agricultural Education

TEXT AND OTHER MATERIALS:

One blank VHS Tape for your presentations and one floppy disk for your lesson plans and various materials

FORMAT FOR PAPERS:

All papers submitted ot the instructor should be typed and double spaced. Late work will not be accepted. There is no extra credit in this class.

SPECIFIC ASSIGNMENTS:

DESCRIPTION OF THE ASSIGNMENTS:

J.I.T.:

A short (4-5 minutes) Demonstration to teach one person a skill, made in class, recorded on video tape, reviewed and evaluated by you within one week. Type it. Buy a blank video tape to record all your "performances" this quarter.

PRACTICE LESSON PLAN:

Using the California Core Curriculum, write a lesson plan for a 50 minute lesson. We will start it in class, you will finish a typed copy on your own.

WRITING OBJECTIVES:

Type up ten, well-written, objectives for agriculture lessons.

LESSONS:

These will be two 20 or 30 minute lessons presented to the class. They will be videotaped and the class will be role playing as high school students. Buy a blank video tape and bring it the day of your lessons.

SELF-CRITIQUE:

The videotape must be reviewed for both of the lessons in #4 above. Please submit a self-evaluation in writing within one week using the form and a narrative. You need a videotape of your own.

LESSON PLANS:

For each of your two lessons (See #4 Above) submit an official Cal Poly Lesson Plan the same day you teach your lesson. Please type and use the format.

TEACHING IN PUBLIC:

There will be several opportunities for you to teach "the public" this quarter. You should find ONE which meets your schedule. See instructor for details.

FIELD STUDY REPORT:

We will take a full day trip to observe a variety of effective teachers. You will want to attend! You will also want to submit a report of your activities, observations and reflections. Please make adjustments in your busy schedule in order in attend this critical one day trip to the San Joaquin Valley.

ATTENDANCE AND PARTICIPATION:

There will be a subjective evaluation by the instructor of your activity and participation in class discussions which will include your initiative, imagination, creativity and development towards a desirable professional attitude. It will take an excellent subjective rating to obtain the "A" grade. Also, attendance is critical for you and your classmates as YOUR analysis of this lessons is important. Each activity you miss will result in a loss in points.

CHECK FOR UNDERSTANDING:

These are opportunities for you to demonstrate that you know and can use the subject matter. Some people call these quzzies. These are unannounced and cannot be made up.

FINAL REVIEW:

A written review of our discussion, thries and practices will be conducted during our final exam week. See the course schedule for time and date.
NOTE: ASSIGNMENTS TURNED IN ON TIME ARE ELIGIBLE TO RECEIVE FULL CREDIT.
