Physics 211-01 Homework Solutions for Spring Quarter, 2009

These solutions were handwritten and then scanned at moderate resolution to make them legible but not have them be too much larger than your monitor screen. They are not meant to be pretty, or fully explained, or even necessarily the best way to do each problem - just the first method that I thought of. There will probably be a few errors in the solutions. Please let me know promptly if you find an error and I will correct it. If you still have questions after looking at these solutions, you should come to my office hours or go to the Science and Math Learning Center.

I advise you to work hard on the homework and to do as much of it as you can without peeking at my sketchy solutions. If I have provided a hint for a problem, look at the hint and try the problem again before you look at my solution. If you think you can skip doing the homework and just read over my solutions instead, I'm afraid you will find out that you are sadly mistaken. You will not be able to do problems like these on an exam unless you struggle through most of them yourself.

You may be able to print these solutions if you are good with computers, but they aren't really meant to be printed - just looked at when necessary.

If I correct an error or make a change to a solution after it has been posted to this page, I will mark that problem number with an *
