This site is currently under construction! I inherited a class that required students to construct a web site as a professional portfolio. With much help and guidance from our department technician, Jack Collins, I have created this site.
Brief Professional Biography
After completing my undergraduate degree at Northubria Univeristy Newcastle (NUN) in Newcastle Upon Tyne in the North East of England, I trained as a Physical Education Teacher at DeMonfort University in Bedford. While teaching Physical Education at Harlington Upper School in England I developed itchy feet and a longing to travel.
A desire for travel and personal growth led me to Central Washington University where I completed a Master's degree in Physical Education. At the urging of my advisor Dr. Stephen Jefferies I moved on to study under Dr. Judith Rink and others at the University of South Carolina.
After completing my doctoral degree in Physical Education Pedagogy I secured a position at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado. At Northern Colorado I earned tenure and promotion in what was then the School of Kinesiology and Physical Education. In Greeley I also met and married my wife Michelle which led me to apply for my current position at Cal Poly in her home state of California.
As a teacher educator I am intrigued by fact that much of what I have learned about life applies to teaching and most of what I know about teaching applies to life. I am a constructivist educator at heart, I believe that people learn best from being actively engaged in quality experiences.
I try to remember that there is inevitably a limit to what one person can accomplish but that the process of attempting to discover that limit is a profoundly meaningful experience.
