About The Program:
EyeCycle is designed to give people with low vision the opportunity to enjoy the simple exhilaration of a bicycle ride! Students captain the front seat of a tandem bicycle, while participants take up the rear (stoker) position. Our captains are carefully trained in the safe operation of a tandem.
Cycling is a wonderful activity for developing fitness, it’s great for aerobic endurance; it builds strength in major muscle groups; it’s a low-impact activity and it gets us out in the fresh air! Many people with visual impairment would love to experience these benefits. EyeCycle aims to unite these individuals with active cyclists from the local communuty by having Cal Poly students captain a tandem for them.

FAQ’s:
| | |
Is it hard to ride a tandem?
It’s harder than you might think! What is crucial is that riders learn to communicate so that the front and rear riders can act in unison.
How much does it cost?
It’s Free! We are funded by the students of Cal Poly, by grants and tax deductible donations. We don’t want cost to be another barrier to people’s participation.
