| Because so many people have asked, I decided to add some more drive compatibility. Remember that although DirectCD will now recognize your drive, it may still not work properly, and so you should test it thoroughly before relying on it.
Do NOT contact Adaptec/Roxio software if you are having problems with this patch. It is unsupported and unofficial. They have nothing to do with it. The DirectCD control panel being so outdated can conflict with the various Toast, iTunes, Disc Burner extensions. They all want control of your CD-R drive, and only one of them can have it. You may have to disable the Apple CD/DVD extension and/or the Toast CD Reader extension. Try and experiment. This patch seems to work most reliably with external SCSI drives. Firewire and USB will not work.

Note: Firewire and USB versions of these drives will not work with DirectCD. Adaptec are the only ones who can add this support to DirectCD. Also, Firmware updates have been known to solve some compatibility issues with this patch.
Purpose: This patch is intended to allow Adaptec DirectCD™ to recognize unsupported
newer drives such as the Plextor Plexwriter 12/4/32 CD-RW drive, and thus allow us Mac
enthusiasts to write UDF formatted disks with this drive. Additional drive support has been added. See version history.
How to Use: Just double-click on the patch application and direct
the dialog box to the location of your copy of Adaptec DirectCD™
It must an ORIGINAL English language copy of DirectCD™ version 1.04 or 1.05.
The patch will not do anything to your original file, and will just
create a new control panel called "Adaptec DirectCD™ 1.0.5p3"
by default. After the patch has completed successfully, you need to move
your original copy of the Adaptec DirectCD™ control panel completely out
of your "System folder", and put the new one in the "Control Panels" folder
of your "System folder". Now reboot and burn UDFs.
This patch has only been tested with DirectCD™ 1.0.4 and 1.0.5.
