Overview / Timeline

Annual enrollment planning involves making projections and establishing targets for overall enrollment and for each discipline, and setting new student admission targets for the subsequent college year. This data contributes to budget development as a basis for projecting fee revenues.

Current Year Monitoring
  • June - Summer Quarter starts the new College Year.
  • October - census date for Fall Quarter, preparation of revised projections for remainder of Academic Year.
  • December/January - publication of PolyView describing student characteristics.
  • February - census date for Winter Quarter, preparation of revised projections for remainder of Academic Year.
  • May - census date for Spring Quarter, distribution of final enrollment for College Year.

Planning for Next Year

  • October - initial enrollment proposal for next College Year submitted to Chancellor's Office, typically confirmed by January.
  • November/December - preliminary planning, including continuing student forecasts, for next College Year enrollments.
  • January - establishment of detailed enrollment targets for next College Year including new student targets by college, discipline and level.
  • February/March - official campus enrollment targets set for next College Year after Winter census date.
  • May - newly admitted students submit Statements of Intent to Register.

Planning for Future Years

  • As needed - campus academic plan and master plan revisions.
  • Upon request - multiyear enrollment proposals (ten-year time horizon) submitted to Chancellor's Office.
  • January - new academic program proposals submitted to Chancellor's Office.
  • Summer - new capital outlay proposals submitted to Chancellor's Office to request funding two years in the future.
