According to our usage statistics, this is the least disruptive time to upgrade both Email servers. 

What is the Reason for this Service Interruption?

The purpose of this outage is to perform an upgrade of the OpenMail servers for Faculty, Staff, and Students.

The reasons for the upgrade are:

• The current OpenMail servers will no longer be supported 
• Improve user's email performance 
• Correct existing bugs 
• Provide new features

Who is Affected by this Service Interruption?

All OpenMail users will not be able to login, send or read email during this outage.

What Services will be Affected and How?

Both Faculty, Staff and Student Email Services will be unavailable from : March 28, 2001 5:00 PM 
to: April 1, 2001 12:00 PM (Noon) 

Mail Delivery will be suspended during the outage. 
NO MAIL WILL BE LOST DURING THIS TIME.

Other applications that send email will also be affected. 
Examples of these are: 

• OpenTime email notification
• Web Mail Forms that are forwarded to OpenMail addresses
• Web Mailto: links that are forwarded to OpenMail addresses

What is the Expected Outcome of this Service Interruption?

Install next version of the OpenMail service.  This version upgrade should result in:

• Improve user's email performance 
• Correct existing bugs 
• Provide new features
