Leaving Users Users who are graduating or are leaving Cal Poly for any other reason are encouraged to clean out their Central UNIX and OpenMail accounts and download any files they wish to keep. Accounts of users who do not appear on current enrollment records are marked for deletion. Accounts marked for deletion will be notified and given two weeks to download files. Once your degree posts on the Academic Records Office database, you are no longer considered a Cal Poly student and are ineligible for email, modem, or UNIX server services or accounts through the University’s Central Systems. Make sure to download your files before you leave at the end of the quarter. Information Technology Services is not required to maintain accounts for students who are not enrolled. E-mail forwarding cannot be provided. The Cal Poly Alumni Association offers an email routing service. They do not offer an email account, but provide email forwarding to another email service you have outside of Cal Poly. They allow you to select a personalized alias (ex. jsmith-1999@alumni.calpoly.edu) which will route email sent to that address to your off-campus email account (ex. Hotmail, AOL, Yahoo, etc.) There is no cost for this service and no limit as to how long you can use it. To find more information on this service, please refer to the Alumni Association web site: http://alumni.calpoly.edu/ and select Electronic Services. If you are subscribed to the Pay Modem Services (Imagine Network), please make sure to de-enroll from this service BEFORE your account is removed. To de-enroll, go to: http://imagine.calpoly.edu/ For students who are still completing course work, senior project or thesis, you must have your project advisor provide a hard copy memo stating all the vital information (e.g., account, name, student ID number, etc.) and Central UNIX and OpenMail account information and an expected completion date for this project. This memo should be directed to the Help Desk, building 14 room 114. If you are leaving and wish to have your account removed immediately, please send us a mail message to "helpdesk@calpoly.edu" and indicate: (1) your student ID number and (2) your complete name as it appears on your ID card. You may also be asked to verify the deletion by e-mail. Your help in this matter will be greatly appreciated.
