News regarding the chsh, and chfn commands on AIX New versions of the chsh and chfn commands have been installed on AIX because the old versions caused corruption of the system password database. The new commands are available only on the AIX site "zeus" and must be run there. Once changes to the password database are made on zeus, they will be replicated to the rest of the cluster within fifteen minutes. The command chsh allows a user to change their default login shell to one of the shells supported by the system. Supported shells include /bin/sh, /bin/csh, /bin/ksh, and /bin/tcsh. The command chfn allows the user to change the "finger" information, or gcos field in the password database. It allows for the addition of office locations and phone numbers. Please remember, that when modifying the name field, that the name field must contain your name as it appears on your ID card as well as any nickname you wish to add in quotes or parentheses. Please refer to the system policy "AIX System Policies" ... "User Name Policies (Finger Name)" under the policy command for more information.
