Winter Quarter Break Downtime Schedule for AIX During Winter Break 1993, Information Systems Personnel will be upgrading the operating system on the AIX RISC Cluster from AIX 3.2.2 to AIX 3.2.5. Wednesday December 15 at 2:00 PM, All AIX Sites EXCEPT harp becomes available. This is our first experience with a major RISC/System 6000 Operating System Software upgrade. The impact on applications software should be limited, but the key words are “should be limited”. If you find that any of the applications that ran unaltered before the upgrade do not run unaltered after the upgrade, please let us know. If the application is one of your own, try recompiling before notifying us. 2. If there are any unexpected problems, it may be possible for one or more RISC sites to be down longer than anticipated. 3. Between December 15 and December 22, there may be intermittent unscheduled down-times, at short notices, beyond the scheduled times above. 4. The AIX/370 site “zeus” will remain up during this time except when unforeseen events require it being brought down. NETNews should be unaffected by the overall downtimes. 5. While your home site is down, your files are unavailable to you. If you have any further questions, please contact Academic Computing Services in CSc Building 14 Room 115 or call 756-6543.
