Winter Quarter Break System Schedule The following schedule are the anticipated down times that will be occurring during the upcoming weeks including Winter Quarter Break. o Install Oboe Ethernet adapter. This adapter will be used with a future campus mail hub. Sunday, December 11, 8am - 12noon o Cluster Ethernet Upgrade. The AIX cluster's Ethernet segment will be split into two segments with each machine attached to its segment via an Ethernet switch. Monday, December 12, 7am - 10am o End-of-quarter archives. All user files are backed up for the end of the quarter archives. To ensure a complete backup, no logins are allowed during this period. Saturday, December 17, 8am - Sunday, December 18, 12noon o RISC memory upgrades. Oboe's upgrade to 512Mb should become permanent at this time and all of the other sites will be brought up to 192MB. This event is dependent on the arrival of the hardware. One day during Monday, December 19 - Thursday, December 29 o User Deletion process starts. AIX Support staff will begin the process of identifying accounts that are candidates for deletion. Monday, December 19 o Loss of Campus power. The entire campus power grid is having maintenance performed that will result in power outages during the 23rd of December. As a result, systems will be shutdown the night before and brought back on-line (barring environment and hardware complications) by noon on the 24th. Thursday, December 22, 5pm - Saturday, December 24, 12noon o NFS Automounter. NFS Automounter is being added to the 6 model 5x0 RISC systems to make NFS filesystem mounts more reliable. Oboe's filesystem mounts will remain as they are on all other sites due to the constant traffic on those mounts for email. Sunday, January 8, 8am - 12noon o OBOE YP master. Target date for moving YP master from the old AIX site zeus to oboe Saturday, January 14, 8am - Monday, January 16, 8am Changes to the above schedule will be noted as necessary in the message of the day and/or system news.
