Games and the Modems

As a result of modem loading during evening hours, starting tonight
(Oct. 3), games will be disabled from 6:00PM to 2:00AM every night.  If
things improve, we may either make them fully available again as the
modem loading changes or we may reconfigure the play command to reduce
game playing when the modem pool approaches saturation.

During this period as with any other time, the building of games on the
system by users other than the "games" account is prohibited.  Users
found with games in their accounts will have their accounts frozen and
will be required to follow the procedure for account reactivation.

This is a reminder that the systems and network resources at Cal Poly
are for supporting academic programs as their primary goal.
