Fall Quarter Break Scheduled Down Times AIX will be unavailable for the following time periods during the upcoming Fall quarter break: Sunday, September 3, between 8:00 AM and 1:00 PM All AIX sites (AIX/370 and RISCs) will be unavailable, during hardware system maintenance. This down time will be in preparation for the migration away from zeus as part of the AIX cluster. NOTE: The migration away from zeus will require that some user programs, which make some system calls, may need to be recompiled. The current version of the C compiler will compile and link with shared libraries by default which will allow the users to recompile now and not be affected by the change when it occurs. Saturday, September 9, at 8:00 AM to Sunday, September 10, at 6:00 PM All AIX sites (AIX/370 and RISCs) will be unavailable for End of Quarter System Archives. This down time will provide the time needed to perform a complete backup of the user files on the system as well as continued preparation for the migration away from zeus as part of the AIX cluster. Sunday, September 17, between 8:00 AM and 12:00 PM All AIX sites (AIX/370 and RISCs) will be unavailable, during hardware system maintenance. This down time provides for the GCC compiler upgrade (c, C++, and Objective C) if time permits (see following note). NOTE: During the above mentioned down times, additional memory will be added to all AIX sites but "oboe" bringing them from 190 MB to a total of 320 MB of memory per site.
