Usage of CSUNet dial-in Access Ports The following was a message received from CSUNet administration recently regarding access requirement changes to the CSUNet dial-in Access Ports effective April 4, 1994: Beginning of included message ***************************** This message is to inform you of a change that will affect "GUEST" users of CSUnet dial-in Access Ports (CAPs). Beginning April 4, 1994, only users who have a valid CSUnet Access Code will be able to access the "TELNET" resource. This means that CAPs users requesting GUEST access by typing the "RETURN" key in response to the access code prompt: Please enter CSUnet Access Code (return for default): will not be allowed access to the "TELNET" command. Again, CAPs users connecting with a CSUnet Access Code will notice no change. This change is necessary in order to help manage the CSUnet Access Ports more effectively and is expected to reduce the busy signals received by legitimate users. If you are a CSU faculty or staff member and are currently using the TELNET resource via "GUEST" access to CAPs and feel that you will be adversely affected by this change, you may apply for a CSUnet Access Code. To request a CSUnet Access Code electronically, connect to CAPs as a guest and then enter "access" in response to the "Enter resource name:" prompt. You will be given instructions on how to proceed. This message is being repeated at approximately one week intervals, so that as many users as possible are informed. If you have any questions about this change or on how to request a access code, please contact CSUnet Information Services at (310)985-9661 or send email to nethelp@CSU.net. *********************** End of Included Message Faculty and staff members requiring such access and needing assistance can access the information at the above sources or contact Academic Computing Services by telephone at 756-2516 or in person at Building 14 (CSc) Room 115.
