CHFN to be disabled as of September 13, 1996 The "chfn" command will be disabled on the AIX systems on September 13, 1996. It will become available to users again on the HP-UX cluster when the session server becomes available (targeted for late Fall quarter 1996). The "chfn" command is used to change the user's finger or GCOS information field in their password file record. This information includes the user's name, office location, office phone number and home phone number. The change is required because of the different databases used by the user accounting system and the binary incompatibility between the two platforms.
