During the December break.  IS will be installing AIX 1.2.1 on the
   AIX cluster.  In addition to the down time, users may discover that
   some applications may need to be recompiled, this is especially true
   for those applications which are not fully linked until runtime.

   While IBM does report that there should be very few problems, we
   have heard of some related to some of the more complex third party
   software and freeware.  While we will be trying to test as much
   third party software as much as possible, there is no substitute for
   the sheer number of users who use the software on a regular basis.

   If you experience any problems with software that is located in the
   normal system directories or /usr/local/bin, please inform the
   account "bugs" with all of the particular information.  If you
   experience problems with software that you or someone else has built
   on the system, please rebuild it or have them rebuild it.  If the
   problem persists, report the problem to "bugs".

   For those of you who are porting or rebuilding software, there is a
   second PS/2 C compiler with 1.2.1, cc, which is compatible with the
   cc on the 370 for source code.  The old PS/2 c compiler is available
   through the vs command.
