Now Through Sunday June 21, 1998 Test of new Cal Poly Web Server What is the Reason for the Test? An Apache Web server on HP-UX will be replacing the NCSA server on AIX.. Who should participate in this test? All users providing web pages should test those pages on the new server. What is the Expected Outcome of this Test? Greater performance and increased delivery speed of on-line documents to the user's browser (depending on their own connection, of course) should result from the change in servers. Web page providers need to verify that their Web pages are accessible and work under the new server. How do I test the new Server? The new Web Server is available for Testing as http://www.infotest.cpunix.calpoly.edu:8000/ and closer to the transition date of June 21, 1998, it will be available at http://www.infotest.cpunix.calpoly.edu/. Users are encouraged to check out their pages via the new server and report any problems via email to bugs@polymail.cpunix.calpoly.edu along with a description of the problem and the URL of the page which appears to be experiencing the problem. NOTE: Pages with non-relative links will cause the user to be returned to the old Cal Poly server and not allow for complete testing. For example, an link of will result in the browser going to the old Cal Poly Web Server while a link of will result in the browser continuing to point to the server that provided the referring page. Wherever possible, change links to relative links before performing the test. Where can I find out more about the Apache Web Server? Information about the Apache Web Server can be found at http://www.apache.org/.
