Update on the September 6-7 Session Server Migration With the exception of software yet to be ported, differences between AIX and HP-UX, and some hardware problems, the migration from AIX session servers to the HP-UX session server has gone fairly smoothly. There are several points to note where some users may be required to take an action to fix a problem: 1. Users have been experiencing a problem with POP access (i.e. Eudora, Netscape mail, etc.) which has been determined to be a NFS bug (the POP server complains that a session is already in progress or hangs). A patch should be applied within the next working day or two to correct this problem. No action is required by the users other than waiting for the patch to be applied. Users may read their mail by logging into their UNIX account and using Pine. 2. Users attempting to use mail or mailx on HP-UX may be receiving an error that the "more" command cannot be found. If this happens to you, issue the command % new.dots at the system prompt and allow it to update your .mailrc file. Information on the migration and what has been accomplished so far can be found on the web pages at the Cal Poly Web server address "http://www.calpoly.edu/~ias/hp-unix-system/". These pages are updated frequently and new pages are flagged on the index at the main page.
