General Information

Housing & Business Services is one of four units within the University Housing department, Division of Student Affairs. The department utilizes a positive team approach in working together to provide a quality living and learning experience for over 5100 students with an annual budget of approximately $28 million dollars.

Housing & Business Services coordinates all maintenance and custodial support services for the residence halls, apartments and agricultural housing units. This unit is responsible for the department budget planning and projections; capital project planning; service contract negotiation and monitoring; property inventory control; procurement; key control; maintenance of the electronic locking system; facilities code compliance and risk management for the entire department. This unit contracts and schedules all residence hall and apartment space utilization services for the summer university guests, programs and conference services.

Housing & Business Services licenses students who live in the agricultural and architectural housing units in accordance with Title V of the California Code of Regulations and directs the management of the facility, fiscal and service matters of the agricultural housing program.

Mission Statement

Housing & Business Services, as a section of University Housing, Division of Student Affairs, is an integral component of the support services of the University, developing and maintaining essential environmental facilities and services for the academic, cultural, personal, professional, recreational, and social experiences of university community members in concert with the mission of the University.

Goals

  • Provide facilities which are safe and secure, functional, and habitable supporting University programs.

  • Provide services which maximize the aesthetic and functional quality of the environment in support of University programs in an economically efficient manner.

  • Support the academic, cultural, personal, recreational, and social educational opportunities through facilitation of personal and group skill development in broad areas of community, responsibility, cooperation, and adaptation to change.
