Imagen Y Espíritu Ballet Folklórico de Cal Poly was founded in 1990 by a group of students determined to secure, promote, and preserve the Mexican culture. The purpose of the group was, and still is, to teach artistic and leadership skills which will enhance the participant's ability in regional dances and allow them to bring a positive attitude towards the Mexican culture and ancestry through dance. The group meets its goals by exposing the campus and the community to the rich traditions and history of Mexican folkloric dance.
