DRIVER'S RESPONSIBILITY BEFORE TOUR
1. Check chassis, brakes, tires, lights, oil, water and gas.
2. You MUST CARRY AUTOMOBILE INSURANCE AS REQUIRED BY LAW.
3. Equipment that should be carried: jack, crank, handle, gallon of water, spare parts and tools. Also a first aid kit.
DRIVER'S RESPONSIBILITY DURING TOUR
1. The Tourmaster will appoint a lead car and "end" car. Maintain your position in the tour line unless other tour cars are having difficulty maintaining tour speed, as in ascending hills.
2. Obey all state traffic laws.
3. Keep your car 300 feet from other cars on highway. We need to leave room for modern cars to get around our slower cars safely. In city traffic, cars can bunch up, but be CAREFUL...no power steering or brakes you know! LEAVE A LOT OF ROOM ON DESCENDING HILLS, PLEASE!
4. DO NOT LEAVE THE TOUR without notifying the tourmaster. The Tourmaster is not responsible for cars while they are away from the tour.
5. Relay hand signals coming from the Tourmaster or his assistant. WAIT at turns for the next car behind you.
6. If your car develops problems in daylight hours...turn on headlights and pull over at a safe place. The TWO (2) cars immediately BEHIND the car in trouble should pull over also and render assistance. The rest of the cars should continue in order to tell the Tourmaster about the trouble. Tourmaster will lead tour to safe place and either go back to check out the trouble or send someone. If trouble happens at night, flash your bright lights several times and pull over at a safe spot.
7. If you experience OVERHEATING, don't drive far for fear of damaging your rod and main bearings. Pull over and check cooling system/timing. Allow engine to idle at least one minute before turning ignition off on hot days.
8. If you are holding up a line of modern traffic, PULL OVER and LET THEM PASS.
9. If you get separated from the tour, follow the tour plans and schedule until you find the tour or the tour finds you, whichever comes first. You will never be intentionally left.
