Aloha all you Malahini's! Are you getting ready for our tour for the month of June? For those of you who don't know on June 14th we will be having a bar-b-que/potluck with a Luau theme at Lopez Lake. I have had numerous members suggesting that we have a bar-b-que and I think it's about time we do a little something for ourselves like buy some meat and go for it. A sign up sheet was passed at the May meeting and so far we have 17 couples signed up! The club will furnish the meat and soft drinks and we are asking you to provide side dishes such as salads, beans or dessert. Bring your own cutlery, plates, cups, napkins, and table cover...now for the Luau theme. Lisa and I have been working on this so you know to expect some crazy fun! We are asking that the men dig out those Hawaiian shirts and the women pull out those muu-muu and grass skirts. We will have a contest with prizes for the best shirt and muu-muu. Now I know there are some truly awful ones out there, so come on folks and don't by shy.
Let's have some fun with this. We will also have a weird and wacky sunglass contest, and a hat contest. Now no groaning out there. How many of us have seen some truly funny sunglasses and hats on tourists? So use your imaginations and go for it...this could be a lot of fun. As always we will have souvenir photos and Lisa and I are working on a little surprise for that. For those of you who are young or just plain young at heart there will be a limbo contest and a hula hoop contest as well! Dan Dirkes has volunteered to be our cook and he could use some assistants so please let him know if you are willing to join him at the grill. We would appreciate some donations of oak wood for the fire. Any of you that can help out, let Dan know as soon as possible. Lisa has reserved us a private group picnic area at Lopez near the lake with plenty of trees and a large parking area. There is a $5.00 fee per vehicle to enter the park also. So come folks and get in the spirit and join your friends on the 14th of June at Lopez Lake for a day of fun. Hope to see you all there and in the spirit of the islands! If you don't plan to attend the general meeting on June 1st but would like to attend the Luau please let Lisa or me know.
