Course Description
- Aesthetic aspects of environmental horticulture, including landscape drafting, landscape and floral design, and landscape history.
- Design in the use and presentation of environmental products.
- Prerequisites: OH 110, OH121
- Miscellaneous course fee required
Course Objectives
- Expose the beginning student, with little or no knowledge of horticulture, to the Landscape Horticulture Industry and Floral Practices.
Each student will become familiar with tools, practices, and skills used in the Landscape Design and Management fields.
The student will gain a working Knowledge of the principles of lettering, drawing and interpretation of landscape plans, elevations, sections, and construction details.
History of Landscape Horticulture and floral design.

- Standards, terms, and symbols of landscape, construction and irrigation professions.
Detailing and dimensioning techniques.
Landscape and Floral industries-their practices, standards, and requirements.
The Professionals involved in each of these professions.
Each student will gain an appreciation and overview of the Landscape Horticulture and Floral Professions.

Student Responsibilities
- Lectures meet 2 hours each week, it is recommended that students keep organized notes, handouts, and exercises to assist them in learning the course materials.
Lab sessions meet for two 3-hour sessions each week. Lab functions in direct relationship with lecture. Students will demonstrate their understanding.
Students are responsible for regular attendance and being on time for each class session.
It is expected that additional time outside of class will be utilized to complete assigned projects and exercises for both lecture and lab.

GRADING-CONTINUED
- Unexcused late work:
- Will decrease 10% in point value (one full letter grade) for each class period that it is late.
- Late work will not be accepted after 2 weeks have elapsed from the date it was due.
- U = Unauthorized Incomplete:
- Failure to complete the course.
- Indicates no notice was given to the instructor by the student.
- There is no opportunity for the instructor to evaluate the students work. Shows an F on GPA and course must be repeated.
- I = Authorized Incomplete:
- Indicates student made prior arrangements with instructor in advance of the 7th week.

- Drafting paper: 8 1/2" by 11", 12" by 18", 18" by 24" Clearprint 1000H.
- Print papers: Print and sepia papers
- Parallel Rule: 36" length permanently attached the drafting paper
- Lab Fee: $15.00 paid for at the time of registration. The fee covers the cost of drafting paper, print paper, floral materials and supplies provided during class sessions.
Remember to Bring Drafting Materials to the First Lab!
