Cairns to Gold Coast - An Australian Round Trip

Australia could be a great destination for a holiday. Planning a round trip in Australia is an exciting prospect – something that the whole family could enjoy you know. Some of the places you would like to include on your trip could be Cairns, maybe Port Douglas, the Hamilton islands, and the Gold Coast. Each of these places will provide wholesome entertainment or a chilled-out and laid back peaceful atmosphere, as per your choice. You will make one of these places your favourite, and maybe ‘finish off’ the vacation by spending the last couple of days there. You will meet friendly people and Americanized culture all across Australia – in many ways Australians are a little like the British and a little like the Americans – you will fit in easily. When you travel through Australia, you could make a couple of friends along the way as well, as often happens on travel vacations.

Starting off at Queensland

You can fly directly into Queensland from the United States. Cairns is a beautiful tropical area with sunny beaches and great entertainment spots – chill out in a beachside resort if you just want to relax, or hit the pubs and casinos if you want to rock the night away! You won’t have any problem with Cairns accommodation – you can select from apartment rooms on a per-day basis, or budget hotels or the luxury resorts – your pick! Do think of visiting Port Douglas – a lovely sea side village which offers a pleasant climate, lots of greenery, souvenir shop and the usual pubs – a definite powerful village atmosphere which will relax you like nothing else. Take long walks along the MacCrossan street – it begins with the marina area and leads to the beach – offering lots of shopping and relaxation along the way. Port Douglas accommodation includes luxury hotels, apartments and many beach resorts to choose from, depending on your budget.

Beautiful Islands

Next you could take a short flight into Hamilton Island, which is part of the lovely Whitsunday Islands on the Australian coast. Hamilton Island is the connecting point for many resorts and places to visit in these islands, so you could find lodging in one of the hotels there. You could maybe want to spend some time on Hayman Island as well, which is very close the Hamilton.

The Gold Coast

Australia’s most popular beaches are of course on the famous Gold coast, so you could fly south into that area. This region is a definite tourist hotspot, so you will find Gold coast accommodation pretty easily, and in many price ranges.  It offers theme parks like Dream World and Movie World which kids and adults both enjoy, so definitely something for everyone in the family here. Don’t forget to check out the beaches at twilight – it can offer lovely photographic opportunities if you are there at the right time.

From the Gold Coast you could fly back to USA, or continue with exploring Australia – it’s a huge country you know, and you could spend months if you decide you want to see all of it. So making a round trip plan could do you and your pocket a lot of good! Maybe you could include some of the major cities like a Sydney and Brisbane on your itinerary, to get a feel of urban Australia.
