e-Business creates value by extending market reach, improving the efficiency of business processes, and building more productive relationships with customers and trading partners. e-Business plays an increasingly critical role in today's intensely competitive, rapidly evolving global marketplace. Information technology and e-business have fundamentally changed the way that we manage the logistic processes within the firm and within the global supply chain. Logistics has been recognized as one of the major pillars for Hong Kong¡¦s Economy and Hong Kong has become a major logistic hub that connects the greater Pear River with the rest of the world. The aim of the fifth International Conference on e-Business (ICEB 2005) is to foster the exchanges of research findings, innovative ideas and industrial practices in the area of e-business with particular emphasis on applications in logistics and supply chain management. Participants of the conference will gain more knowledge and skills for building service-oriented, cost-effective, and profitable e-business.
