Cal Poly, UC Davis to Co-Host 10th Annual Dairy Short Course
SAN LUIS OBISPO -- In a joint
venture with UC Davis, the Dairy Products Technology Center will co-host
the 10th Annual Milk Processing Technology Short Course April 13-14.
The course is designed to enhance fundamental knowledge of the industry
as well as educate an interested audience through a two-day event that
will include:
· * the basic foundations of dairy processing
· * the components of processing
· * components integrated into processing systems
· * techniques of cleaning and sanitizing to help ensure product
quality and safety.
As an outcome of the course, individuals will learn about bacteriological
testing procedures, sensory evaluation of milks, pasteurization and homogenization
principles, putting together pasteurization systems and cleaning and sanitizing
principles for equipment and people.
"The course will be useful for those in the dairy industry, allied
fields, and in regulatory work," said Laurie Jacobson, research associate
for the Dairy Products Technology Center.
