Course Objectives
- Develop the terminology and notation used to deal with
partial differential equations and boundary value problems.
- Study some of the physical systems that are modeled with partial differential
equations.
- Learn how integral transforms are used to solve partial differential
equations on unbounded domains.
- Learn how orthogonal expansions are used in the solution to boundary value
problems for ordinary differential equations on bounded domains (The Method
of Fourier Series).
- Develop the method of separation of variables as it applies to partial
differential equations on bounded domains.
