:: Ports of Call 2008 ::

Cruise 2008 will be to South Pacific. The Golden Bear's itinerary for South Pacific is tentatively scheduled to make ports of call in Papeete, Tahiti; Auckland, Noumea, New Caledonia, Nukualofa, Tonga; Maui, Hawaii; and Honolulu, Hawaii.

CMA received word from the US State Department for Fiji desk, on January 15, 2008, who indicated that the embassy is going to deny the Golden Bear's request for clearance because they cannot support the Military dictatorship with the showing of the US Flag.  They request that the ship go to Nukualofa, Tonga.

The ship normally schedules to be in ports for three days. Once in port, students have the opportunity to explore. Some on shore tourist-type excursions are prearranged, and all cadets will have an opportunity to participate. Some courses will include field trips or in port activities.

NEW - Students will need to book their own flight home from Hawaii.  The ship will dock in Honolulu on June 19 and students will have to be off the ship no later than 1600 (4:00 PM) on June 19, but can leave the ship anytime after 1200 (noon) on that day.   If desired, students may stay longer in Hawaii but will need to make their own arrangements for lodging.  When possible, students should plan to travel with friends to share costs.
