:: Noumea, New Caledonia ::

New Caledonia, a French territory, is a South Pacific paradise.  The Golden Bear docks in the capital city of Noumea, and there is plenty to explore and experience during your time in port.  The area boasts cultural activities, watersports, relaxation and much more for your enjoyment.

If you are looking for cultural activities, check out the daily markets in town, or look into tours visiting the local Melanesian tribes.  You may also want to try your hand at petanque (French bowling).  Additionnaly, the city boats several museums focused on subjects like: the city of Noumea, New Caledonia, geology, maritime history, a zoo, and aquarium and more.  These museums are unique and very interesting.

Water Taxi

You may want to spend some of your time here enjoying this tropical paradise with watersports and beach activities.  Canoeing, kayaking, parasailing, scuba diving and snorkeling (the reefs are excellent), windsurfing, kitesurfing, and sailing in outriggers are all popular activities.  New Caledonia boasts several nice beaches including Baie des Citrons and the Anse Vata beach.  Or, you can take a water taxi to L'île aux Canards a small island with a self-guided snorkel tour, pedal boats, nice beaches and more.

Many more adventures can be found ashore including canyoning, climbing, horseback riding, and tree-walking (high ropes adventure/challenge course).

As the day winds down be sure to sample some of New Caledonia’s traditional, tribal, and French-inspired food.  Noumea is home to many restaurants and a thriving nightlife for you to enjoy.
