:: Letter 10, Cruise 2005::

Letter to Students,

For all you students looking to go on this trip, I am going to give you a little advise before you leave. Take it or leave it depending on if it applies, but I think most of my fellow shipmates would agree with what I’m saying.

First off, I recommend the South Pacific trip very highly. the ports are beautiful and there are tons of activities to do at each port. Now that I’ve said that, I will give you a list of advice that I wish I would have gotten.

- First and foremost, if you have a significant other break it off before you leave. If you can’t do that, try to leave your “guilty conscience” behind.

- take as few classes as possible and take them credit/no credit if possible. You will think there is plenty of time on the boat to keep up, but you will find out that is not the case.

- I wouldn’t plan on finding a long term gf/bf on the boat. They call it the love boat for a reason and that is because everyone pretty much just wants to hook up but nothing too serious (there are a few people who end up staying together, but not very many).

- Juniors and above try to live on the 02 deck, sophomores and below try and live on the 01 deck, and lower berthing is for everyone.

- If you’re in Brisbane the bar called Victory is the best one - I highly recommend it.

- Girls, watch your weight. Mom’s cooking can be very addictive.

Well, that’s about all I can think of right now. I had a blast. There is so much other stuff I could try and explain to you but I can’t really describe the trip in words, you just have to experience it. If you end up going I can promise you two things: you won’t regret it, and it will change your life forever.

from a senior
