Cal Poly University Home Page Content Criteria

The topical content on the Cal Poly home page is managed by Cal Poly Public Affairs and is targeted primarily to external audiences:

  1. Prospective Students
  2. Parents
  3. Alumni
  4. General Public

Items targeted exclusively to the internal university audience (faculty, staff and current students) will be channeled to other Cal Poly web pages/areas that exist exclusively to serve those audiences. The primary site for internal audiences is the MyCalPoly Portal.

Items of interest primarily to current students should be channeled to the MyCalPoly Portal.

Announcements primarily of interest to faculty and/or staff should be channeled to the weekly Cal Poly Report employee newsletter published by Public Affairs.

Content on the Cal Poly University Home Page should refer readers/viewers to a Cal Poly-authored Web page or Web site.
Content linking to a non-Cal Poly authored/controlled Web page or Web address will not be considered.
To suggest or request a content item (photos, links or editorial copy) on the Cal Poly University Home Page, email polynews@calpoly.edu.

Cal Poly Public Affairs will edit, source, rotate, and otherwise maintain the changing topical content on the Cal Poly University Home Page using current communications and editorial standards, judgment and practices. Cal Poly Public Affairs has final editorial control of all copy and photos on the University Home Page. Public Affairs will edit the Cal Poly University Home Page under the guidance of the Cal Poly University Web Communications Committee, which consists of representatives from Public Affairs, ITS and the Colleges.
